Is a Dyson hairdryer worth the money? | Scouse Bird Blogs

I talk about things I love. I’m registered as an affiliate marketer so that means that sometimes I’ll earn a commission on my recommendations XOXO Steph Bannister

I’ve resisted getting a Dyson hairdryer for ages because honestly, how different could a hairdryer be? I just didn’t think it would be worth the money.

Last week I was filming a few bits on my phone for a mini tutorial video on curling tongs. If you’d asked me before I’d swear down blind that it took me at least 3 hours to dry my hair with a normal hairdryer and that’s why I try and leave it for as long as humanly possible between hair washes. Some days my hair is just mainly dry shampoo, hairspray and hope.

Anyway, while filming this video I inadvertently timed how long it took to blast dry my hair  and it was over 8 minutes AND it was still damp by the extension bonds. Be arsed.

Curiosity got the better of me and I got my hands on the new Dyson hairdryer as an early Christmas present. I ordered it at about 4.30pm and it was delivered before 12pm the next day – absolutely floored by that – and I couldn’t wait to get home and dry my hair.

The result? My hair was bone dry in less than 3 minutes. That was just using it minus any attachments. I’m really crap at blow drying my hair so honestly I don’t have a clue when it comes to attachments, I just can’t get the hand to eye co-ordination quite right in the mirror so I always blast dry. The attachments are magnetic though and the way they attach  is proper sexy.

In fact the whole Dyson hairdryer is a sexy beast. It looks amazing, it feels fantastic quality (and for that price you’d expect it to) and it even comes with its own carry case – in platinum obviously – continuing with the luxury theme.

When Mr Dyson bowled up like 10-15 years ago with his vacuum cleaner and it was soooo much more expensive that everything else out there, everyone was furious at the price, but now I’d say most people own a Dyson. Same with iPhones. Sometimes something expensive comes along but it’s SO good and SO industry changing that eventually everyone just gets one. The Dyson hairdryer is that thing, I’m convinced. Drying your hair is never going to be the same again, it’s so low maintenance it’s practically a hack.

As for my hair, not only was it dry in a couple of minutes but it was proper shiny the next day and it felt cleaner than it’s every been before. I am shook. I still can’t believe it.

So if you want to get one (it deffo gets the thumbs up from me) but the price is still a bitter pill to swallow then Boots are doing £60 in advantage card points on Dyson hairdryers at the moment if you’re going to take the plunge…

Also if any Liverpool hairdressers are using the Dyson hairdryer at the moment, let me know – I’d love to see what a professional blow dry with one is like!
