Travis are well and truly back with their highly anticipated new album Everything At Once. The band from Glasgow, first shot into the public eye and hearts in 1999 with absolute tunes like ‘Driftwood’ and ‘Why Does It Always Rain On Me’ from the album ‘The Man Who’ which reached number one in the UK charts. Travis have been the soundtrack to many a teenagers formative years and the nostalgia vibe will be strong.
‘The Invisible Band’, which also hit number one, was released in 2001 and those two albums have definitely gone down as all-time classics.
More importantly, their latest offering has the content and quality to go the same way.
Their 8th album is enthralling and features ten songs that show the band at the top of their game, with each cut around or under three minutes. Speaking on the concise nature of the album, Fran Healy reveals that the songs, “Don’t overstay their welcome. We have learnt to be frugal with our writing. You can say everything you want to say. You don’t need four minutes to do it.” Yasss Fran, efficiency and brilliance, that’s what we like to see.
Travis are also set to play the Liverpool O2 Academy on Monday 19th December and if you haven’t seen them before I can’t recommend them enough. It’s a small, intimate venue meaning you get a unique atmosphere that you just cannot replicate at the big arenas. So if you’re a true Travis fan this is the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with the Scotch wonders.
The only drawback is that’s the date of the Merseyside derby so a lot of football fans will want to go and see their team win, but for all the Evertonians, you can come and see Travis 😜
