Walking past One Park West, through Chavasse Park, there it stands. Almost as grand as a plantation house you may have seen in the likes of Django Unchained or 12 Years a Slave, The Club House is a beautiful American styled villa actually based on an old-fashioned beach house in the Hamptons.
The first thing you notice is that The Clubhouse has the kitchen outside in an outhouse just in front of the main building. Our immediate thoughts were that this would affect the food in some way; maybe it would arrive cold? We needn’t have worried; the food was delicious and perfect temperature With a menu comprising of exotic hanging lamb kofka kebabs and uber healthy superfood salads to hearty homecooked pies; there’s something to suit everyone’s palettes and dietary requirements.
The best thing, IMO, is their real ale menu. They’ve got LOADS to sample from all over the world including pale, blondes, stouts, fruit beers (even the ever hard to find cherry beer) and of course for the unadventurous – lager. All this whilst a pianist sang acoustic chart hits (he was so good he had several people stopping passing waitresses and asking if this was live or a recording), which complemented the atmosphere perfectly.
How would I describe this place in just a few words? “Perfect for a date on a summers evening.” With all of the above (including sexy outdoor space courtesy of a veranda overlooking the park) and it being really reasonably priced everyone will be happy!
XOXO
